New Gopher Tips Before Starting Classes!

Gopher Families,

After you and your student attend orientation throughout the summer, and following begin to prepare for the start of the academic year at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, here are some things to encourage your student to keep in mind:

  • Plan Transportation: Help your student decide the best way to get around campus. Remind them to use their UCard for transit with the Universal Transit Pass for convenient travel.
  • Books & Class Materials: Guide them to use the CourseWorks Program to obtain necessary class supplies and materials.
  • Review Campus Safety: Ensure your student is informed about public safety resources, including the SAFE U Alert system and available Mental Health Resources.
  • Register for Welcome Week: Encourage your student to sign up and participate in Welcome Week Orientation to help them settle into university life.
